Microballoons: Choose this when lightweight filling, shaping and easy sanding are the priority.

3M K1 Microballoons are lightweight hollow glass microspheres used in surfboard building to create an easy-to-sand, lightweight filler when mixed with resin. They can be used with epoxy or polyester resin, making them a versatile shop staple for both board building and repairs.

Ideal for filling voids, repairing foam, setting or fairing around fin boxes, and other areas where you want to add volume without adding unnecessary weight. Mix into resin until you reach the consistency you need, from a light slurry to a thicker putty.

Great for: EPS and PU repairs, fin boxes, filling cavities, fairing, ding repair, and general surfboard construction.

Lightweight, easy to sand, and useful in just about every glassing or repair shop.
